The Cole Summer Writers Institute is a one week writing workshop for students at the Voorheesville Middle School and the Clayton A. Bouton High School. Started in 2005, the Institute gives middle school and high school age writers an opportunity to hone their writing skills in a fun, relaxed environment.
Utilizing Clayton A. Bouton High School as a classroom, with the scenic Helderberg Mountains as a backdrop, students meet, discuss, write, and explore their own creativity. They are exposed to a variety of writing exercises, have access to technology, and get to experience the teaching of successful professional writers who serve as guest leaders and mentors. A workshop reading, publishing seminar, and pizza party highlight the end of the week.
